WE stopped Amnesty and the Dubai ports deal and we can correct this BS also.

VAN SUSTEREN: All right. So now -- so now where does that leave us with -- I mean, Senator McCain made a contribution and he got some Republicans to consider it or vote for it, but we're still back at square one. We have no bill.

GINGRICH: Well, and as I said, I think, therefore, the first thing they should do tomorrow -- since the Congress is out for the Jewish holidays, the first thing they ought to do tomorrow morning is suspend mark to market, which the administration can do internally without any bill. The second thing they should do is rewrite the bill.

But I would rewrite it to move it towards being a lending authority, not a purchasing authority and to enabling people to have a work-out, not a bailout. And I believe you could pass a work-out bill with a substantial number of Republican votes, where I think it's extraordinarily hard to get votes for a bailout. And I really am afraid, the way the Congress works, that the next stage will be to move with Speaker Pelosi to a very left-wing bill designed to buy votes by giving away money domestically.

It is a very interesting take on the entire situation with practical solutions.

Why does the current leadership not listen to these kinds of ideas?

Because they can't get their taste of the money OR it doesn't fit their political agenda.

Every time one of us runs across something like this we need to spread it far and wide as the MSM will NOT. We have proved several times in the last few months that the internet is replacing the MSM as a place where many intelligent people get their information and news sources.

WE stopped Amnesty and the Dubai ports deal and we can correct this BS also.

Work it for US.

Why do women marry men for money, and not because they truly want to be with someone that makes them happy!!!??

Now I know that I am a woman, and I shouldn't be asking this, but why!!!!????? Why can't women marry for good reasons like, "He's my best friend", or "We Truly love each other", or "We have so much in common". Why does it have to be about bank roll, or the size of the house, or what kind of car, or all of the above, when none of those asking for those things in a man have those things themselves!! Im a hard working woman, Ive earned everything that I have. I have two jobs, and Im in school! And I deal with the stress that comes along with it! I prefer having an ambitious, hardworking, good looking, good man that treats me like a queen man any day! I have always felt that a successful man wants and deserves a successful woman and vice versa. But whats up with all the unsuccessful, dont want nothing out of life for themselvs besides a dude with bank and a big dick, girls(and I use the term girls because thats not what a real womens mentality is) out here?!! What happened to the womens movement of the 1920's where women wanted to be treated equal to men, and given the same respect. What ever happened to the women that wanted more for themselves, that wanted to work and make big money on their own. Not be handed everything. What the hell happened??!! Can some help me understand this shit!!!

personally i'd rather be with a poor man who can make me laugh ..
knows how to rub me right ..
and give me good love before we turn out the lights ..
than a man with money who just wants to give me money
and leave me all by myself all the time ..
so many women are all caught up in wantin men for their money
i think they forget what its supposed to be all about ..

ALOT OF GIRLS ARE STRAIGHT UP MATERIALISTIC. I MEAN ITS PROBABLY EASIER FOR A GIRL TO LOVE A DOCTOR WHO UGLY AS FUCK BUT MAKES 250K AND GETS HER ALL MATERIALISTIC SHIT SHE CAN SHOW OFF TO HER FRIENDS RATHER THAN LOVE A DUDE WHO PAINTS HOUSES FOR A LIVING AND MAKES 20K A YEAR.

ITS SAD TO SAY BUT SOME FEMALES ARE JUST OUT FOR THE MONEY, ITS EASIER TO PRETEND TO LOVE SOMEONE ACTING LIKE ITS NOT ABOUT THE MONEY RATHER THAN PUT UP WITH A RELATIONSHIP WHERE MONEY IS TIGHT, JUST A THOUGHT.

hmm good point and i totally get what you are saying

But what about these successful men who settle for these types of women do you not then question him ?

Cause I wonder the character of a man who has struggled and built something for himself who settles with a woman who has nothing and is doing nothing but has a cute face and a fat ass but then complains that all she do is spend his money.

“I keep my personal life my personal life. You try to keep it as private as you can. When things leak out, it’s not always the truth. Some is. All you can do is continue being who you are. A lot of things have come out about me, and people are going to think what they want to think. But at the end of the day, no one knows what’s happened in my life to get to the point where me and my wife, our family, not being together.

When the time comes, I will make one statement and that’s it. Like anyone else, I want my privacy respected. Let people say what they want to say about me. I hear it. I get mad about it. But it doesn’t get me down. It adds fuel to the fire.”

Editorial: How the Black Media is Tearing down Black Intellect

We often discuss the white media and how it has set a course to undermine Black life in America, but we have not discussed how the Black media has helped to destroy what brain cells, pride, and dignity Black America has left. Via the endorsement of star struck vanity, gossip, and a barrage of superficiality, the Black media has managed to deepen the wounds of Black dignity inflicted by white America. How is this so?

The main problem is that the Black media lack originality and draw off the lead of the white mainstream. Fear of what whites will say about them and threats to withdraw support from them, restrain the Black media from being creative and fighting back against the attacks on Blacks from the white mainstream. So instead of being innovative and designing a media agenda to drive progress in the Black community, they feed off the negative of the white media about Blacks and design programs and promotions that address the wrongs that whites tell us we have.

In addition, the Black media copy the white in areas of television shows, radio programming and host, the format, topics, and messages they send. Instead of pulling away from the typical programming format of celebrity this, soap drama that, comic radio DJ this, attitude having stereotypical Black woman that, the Black media pushes this drug on Black America from morning to midnight and wonder why we have not "reached the promise land."

They wonder why Black men lag in employment and fill the prisons, why Black women have no husbands, Black children cannot learn, and why we seem to look so bad in every area of American life as compared to whites. Even though the answer is obvious, they cannot see it and instead react to what they are told by whites and call themselves addressing it through educational media programming.

Though there are Black college graduates in many areas of the country in the field of communications, leading to jobs in television and radio, however, not one has come out of their university with an original idea. But they have all been brainwashed to follow the same sambo script. Even despite the fact that there are "Black Networks," those Black networks have not helped reduce negative Black images or perfect a positive state of Black America not one bit, but have in fact, help destroy it further. Should the people begin to question their motives?

The major Black media outlets such as BET and TV-One, followed by major magazines like Ebony, Vibe, and Essence, are suppose to be alternative to white media and are to represent the Black voice and life, at least that was the mission in the beginning. But today they are nothing more than extensions of white media acting more as henchmen for them.

They all feed the Black community trash. Soap opera-type drama, fashion, glamour, celebrity vanity that has done more damage to the America way of life in white America and double that in Black America. The difference is that whites have a financial base to sustain themselves against the trauma sent by the evils of vanity, sexual seduction and immorality while Black America does not. bling (15K)We cannot protect ourselves against the consequences of the immorality that the glamour lifestyle and sexual innuendos send against our communities. And when we seek help from white America, we are second to all, underfunded and neglected in areas of health, justice, education and other.

The Black media neglects its homework and psychoanalyses of what the Black community can handle in terms of subliminal ethical message through media, television and radio. They believe they can do what whites can do and the Black community can absorb the effects without becoming infected. For instance, low and middle income people cannot afford to pattern their lives after Black celebrities who showcase their homes and lifestyles on BET, or who showcase their cars, designer fashion and bling as if it is everyday affordable to the average working single Black women or child.

Hard working Black people who ride to work in the morning listening to urban morning radio have to suck down the gossip of Black entertainers and their lifestyles, absorb the lyrics of angry Black women and disrespectful Black men, which in turn cause them to emulate a certain celeb or rapper or singer when relating to others around them everyday. It has become so entrenched in the minds of Blacks that they cannot relate to one another without speaking childish street terms, having certain attitudes that they really cannot afford to have, and disrespecting people who have actually done nothing to them except pass them by.

The Black elite and educated cannot see this effect or simply do not care about it and what it does to Black adults and children. They again follow the lead of white America and live by ratings, money, and prestige without care of the actual people who support them from the grassroots with their hard earned money. They suppose that this is what the people want but have not done one ounce of research to actually find out if it is the truth or not, and again, following the lead of whites based on marketing data, what they learned in white institutions.

Superficiality in the Black community does not come from the Black community; from the womb or from the minds of unborn children, it comes from televisions and what Black people see and hear each day as to what their lives are about. They get this information from either reading magazines or watching television. Blacks who have limited access to various resources can only reach as far as their television set or certain magazines they pick up at supermarkets in the tabloid section.

ebony (39K)Here is where Ebony, Vibe, Essence, and other Black Hip Hop and celebrity magazines are found and idolized, and it is here young Blacks learn the lingo, fashions, and lifestyle of superficial Blacks made by Hollywood or by the Black mainstream media themselves. Adding to the BET videos and the TV-one sitcoms and soaps, the Black community is saturated with trash and have little means or access to educational material, material that encourage business entrepreneurship, strong families, relationships, or community. Instead they are fed crap like drama; P. Diddy married who, Lil J shot who, Big T went to jail, Basketball great got babies and negative gossip that Black media believes, by marketing data, is what the Black community is asking for.

There are no Black intellectual magazines featuring people like Cornell West essays, Professors of Black universities or Black doctors, or major achievers in the field of math or science, no, there are not even strong Black poets of today published for Black youth; instead there are only vanity star struck Black magazines filled with crap. There are no real intellectual radio talk shows that feature people who discuss why Blacks are in the state they are in and how to get out of it, but radio filled with seductive lyrics, ignorant jokes and parodies, political feed back from white news, and talk of again, the lifestyles of Black celebs.

Black leaders must wean the Black community off ignorance and onto the real meat of intellect. They must become innovative and create radio and televisions shows that address the real issues instead of the stereotypes. They must pull back the gossip and push in the intellect. They must encourage Black minds instead of poison them to the same ills that are killing white America and America itself. If we do not do it soon, the only foundation on which Blacks will have to stand will be their own front porch, because that is as far as the Black media have taken them.

I am glad that someone has addressed this topic outside of my social circle. As a new media entity we attempt to tackle the stereotypes, ideals and media images often create by our own. I find it funny that when we address these issues it is always the industry insiders that express their disgust with the direction our culture and sub-culture that they themselves have so much power over.
I, (Africa Allah) left a media job in 2003 because I lost respect for the management of the art form. I was groomed with the ideal that my purpose as a journalist/ personality was to bring information to the public with no bias and to promote mental and social growth. As a radio personality in a small town people respected my judgment and followed my lead. How could I then support BS, gossip and ignorance in exchange for rating.
All of us in this industry know the extend of our power over the development of our culture yet, we superman these hoes and promote trapping over rapping. Personally I hate that every artist I meet has the same MO. Everyone (look at Rick Ross) glorifies the ignorance of street life never acknowledging the death, pain, abandonment and disaster it brings.
We create this. We support this and we get rich off the destruction of our community. Mentally we are handicap by the facades that we breed. Yes, I love the ignorance as well but we need a balance. We create the culture so we have the power to change it. Everything is not going to change over night but if we at least open the lines of communication we have a winning chance.
Yes, it is up to the consumer but if all there is to consume is ignorance then what choice do we have? There is no deciphering if you are socially conditioned to live and think a certain way. Art is a reflection of life and life in turn replicates it. If we begin painting new images new action and lifestyles will blossom.
I'm sorry, my point here is ,talk is cheap! We create, control and determine the outcome of over society through our words, ideals and images. Most of us are the industry... " the media" if you will. Question is how many of us feed the fuel that is burning down our social fabric? We are the Black Media. Man up and take responsibility for your actions.

We keep writing these articles, I read them, I write. We need to do something, or at least keep in touch until we figure out what to do so we all can move on it. You post this piece, people reply saying thank you, the end. We have to realize that we are not powerless. We know the problem, we need to figure out some solutions.
If I'm unemployed, sitting around complaining about how I can't find a job isn't going to help me get one. Regardless of how many times I'm turned down, I have to keep looking until I find one.
If every person that wrote an essay like this, every reader that read an essay like this and agreed with its sentiments, every person that replied to a message like this in agreement, and everybody who thinks like this can come together we can do some things.

I see the same thing in the music, everyone talks about the artist they don't like but they don't through any names of artist that are making good music. We're still promoting negativity, but in the spirit of positivity.
We turned off the radio, the kids didn't so the radio stations just completely altered their format to cater to them. It was bad before but look at it now. If we would have been like, "Okay, you don't want to play what I like. I'll listen to this other station." When that other station started killing them in ratings they would be forced into catering to that audience to compete.
The bottom line is that the pattern of thought we are up against is, "If it don't make dollars, is don't make sense." We can make our sense make dollars, but it's going to take unity and support.
This is my contact info for anyone down to build and try to work on some solutions: iamthegif@gmail.com www.myspace.com/dagif

*Parents It's our Responsibility to explain reality vs. fiction*

-Just a thought
I remember there was a time when our parents listened to one kind of music and kids another. Now we riding bumping to Solider Boy or Gucci Mayne etc and low and behold who's in the back seat of the car singing back up? You singing "Girl he geeked up" and lil so-n-so (yo kid) singing " B@#ch I might be"! What's even worse have of them can't even remember what they learned in school that day!
What happened you say ? Our parents used to take time with us to study, you know be parents. They monitored what we was doing ??? They listened to there own music like "You Got to have a J-O-B if you wanna be with me...ain't nothing going on but the rent" and we was listening to "Warm it up Chris...I'm about to"Kriss Kross.

The thing is now the parents and the children listen to the same music and watch the same shows. We don't differentiate reality vs. fiction. So here we have moms favorite artist is LIL Wayne and so is the kids, the problem with that? Every generation the parents are getting younger and younger. Young impressionable minds,we fall prey much easier. The Bling Bling Era got us, we victims of conditioned response! We see rims and and fore in cars on the video, and think the life they live is what's happening. They making it rain and we just gotta have it. You said it right GIF, I agree. Problem is after the cameras cut off they leave the mansion set, pick up they money, send the rental cars and jewelery back. Nobody puts that shot in the video, probably wouldn't sell? It looks so good that we imitate it at any measure. No body is saying
" Hey son, Lil Wayne is an entertainer his job is to sell music and please his audience. He's supposed to make hings look flashy and make our eyes bulge, wouldn't be much of a show if he didn't !Everything he says is not necessarily the truth nor is he someone you should look to as a role model. He had to deal with setbacks and work hard to get to his level, this is just a video. So don't think it's all fast money and easy sailing, he's is still human. He's had money issues and so has a lot of other entertainers. Everything that glitters ain't gold, kid!"

Now you may say that is ridiculous to say to a child! The fact of the matter is , if they too young to understand that. Then they too young to listen to that kind of music anyway!!!! They don't even know what they talking bout 5 singing "Lollipop".

*Media it is our Responsibility to inform with Balance*

So we know what we see on T.V. and in Magazines...negativity! Actually I take that back you have magazines like "O" Oprah's magazine etc but it's just not appealing to this crowd. They rather read the norm, cause they feel like they can't relate to her. Why, cause they haven,t done their research to know her story! Look, I can't say I 100% have the answer but it's worse than ever! The question is what can we do NOW?

Well, I tell you what my team done sat down and formulated a plan. I'm a single mother so it is especially important for me to contribute to a change, for the sake of my child. It came to a point I was fighting myself writer vs. journalist but why? What better time than now to bring to present a magazine that focuses on entrepreneurship and entertainment. Formula 808 Magazine, we find the formula to each persons success to date . In turn we aim to educate as well as entertain that aspiring doctor, entertainer, producer, scientist, publicist, lawyer etc ."Balance" You have to decide to be a trendsetter do things that will make you stand out from the pack! Media we are obligated to BALANCE!
If you gonna talk about Mater P and what his music done then Talk about what he's doing as Percy Miller " THE ENTREPRENEUR".

I'm willing to do what it takes and I definitely can't do it alone. I need you! email me

Amritopanishad

Here and now liberation for me from the shackles of my body.

My awareness is a mirror. It reflects me to myself. So I see myself only. All that I see, all that I experience, is my own self. This whole world is me, a reflection of myself. I contain this world which has arisen in me as an experience. Space and time are thoughts in me. I am not delimited by a subset of my thoughts. So I exist beyond space and time. I am immortal. I am free.

Since I am the whole world and beyond it too, I cannot die. I exist, my awareness exists, when time itself is not there. So I was never born, I can never die.

Since I am the whole world, I am not a part of it, particularly, the part which appears to me as my body. When others say I am dead, no more, and my body is burning, I see myself through the millions of others' eyes I have. When I am seeing my body burn, how could I have died?

What is death? Moving awareness away from a particular time or place makes that particular time or place die. Lack of awareness is death. It's like sleeping. But, I wake up in a different body, casting away all my previous ideas into the waste paper basket of the past. Some times, I may pick up a discarded paper from the basket. That's when I remember a past life experience.

The process of death is not unfamiliar to me. I can be aware of my foot. Now, I can be aware of my hand. When I am aware of my foot, I am not aware of my hand, I don't know if it was there. Next moment when I become aware of it, it came ito being. Birth and death, these are continuously happening every moment. They are painless. I cannot be afraid of birth, I cannot be afraid of death, since I am not afraid of passage of time. Then why and how can I be afraid of death? Of stoppage of time? Death is my friend not to be afraid of, nor wept for. Death is a celebration, to be enjoyed, like throwing away useless torn clothes.

Death does not exist. Nor does birth. Nor does growth. The world is a constant invariant. That contains all experiences which flow in time. It is full when time flows. It is empty when time does not flow.

Whatever I see is myself. This is a fundamental truth. From this all possible interpretations of truth flow. What is truth?

Truth is that which is not limited by space, time or matter. It exists everywhere, always, in every thing. So it is called pervasive (Vishnu), immortal (Kaala), and matter (Brahma). Truth is also called existence (Brahma), consciousness (Shiva), and bliss (vishnu).

Each aspect of truth implies the other two; so there is only one, the unity of the three. How is that?

Deny existence. Can anything that does not exist be conscious or bliss? Deny consciousness. Can anything exist or be blissful? Deny bliss. Can any consciousness or existence be without pain or pleasure or peace (all three aspects of bliss)? So each implies the other two. They are all one.

I love myself. I am the world. Put these two together. I get: I love the world, the whole of it, because it is a part of me. I love this world as it is; all its vices, all its virtues.

If I see something I don't like, it is like a bad thought in me. I do not hate it, I love it still, because it is also me. Now I get the idea: love overcomes hate, it is the answer to hate.

I believe in myself. What else is there to believe in, when the whole world is myself? My belief in myself means that I believe in the world.

I have a choice. To be morose and depressed. To be happy and joyful. No matter what happens to me, or to my kith and kin. I choose to be happy and joyful. No matter what happens.

Sometimes things do go wrong. Like sometimes, I get bad thoughts in me. Let them go wrong. Its alright to let go off things. To happen the way they want to. This is the formula for peace. To let go of control. This is sometimes called surrender.

Suppose a part of me, say my little finger of my leg is hurting. I don't take a stone and hurt it more, because it is hurting me. On the contrary, I take pains to nurture it, to relieve the pain. Suppose someone hurts me badly. That one is a part of me. It is my duty to nourish that one, remove the ignorance there. All I have to do to remove my hurt, my injury is to take away my awareness from that experience. That gives me an idea; my awareness gives energy to a thought.

My awareness is like a magnifying glass. It amplifies what I focus it on. It manifests that, by not lending my awareness. I will not afford the luxury of allowing negative thoughts. Because they are nourished by awareness, they grow on it, they manifest it, they attract everything that increases that particular brand of negativity.

The answer to violence is love and reconstruction of the lost links of communication. The answer to violence is never fresh violence. In this lies the art of survival, in the mundane sense.

I will lend my thoughts to harmony. My whole existence is devoted to that single cause. Harmony allows different notes to play without interfering with each other. Harmony allows freedom and discipline. Harmony is an aesthetic combination of liberty and bondage. I love it. It pleases me. It pleases everyone.

Knowing that poison cannot kill me (the whole world), I choose still to eat food, not poison. That is my choice. I take what nourishes me.

I am nourished by love. Love that I can give to other parts of me. And the love other parts of me give to me. If I can be of any use to anyone, I will let them use it. If this particular body, mind or intellect are any use to some `others', what better pleasure is there for me than offer it in service? Is it not like my hand taking a soap and washing other parts of my body to help them become fresh?

I love to see beauty all around me. I love to see people's happiness. It is my commitment to see every living being happy. I nourish my love by expressing it, not containing it. The more I give love, the more I get it. So the more I give. It is my nature to give, to share my love, peace, happiness with everyone. Not silently in my mind, but by and through actions.

I nourish my negatives, such as fears, lust, anger, greed, possessiveness, pride, jealousy and hatred by containing them, not expressing them. I transform them into fearlessness, love, calm, sharing, letting go, humility, fun and regard respectively by not lending my awareness or thinking to them.

What is Kundalini?

Kundalini is the power of coherent awareness, which moves snake like; hence called the SERPENT POWER. It is spontaneous, unpremeditated, subconsciously motivated action. It has its own laws of working. It can defy gravity easily. It is life itself, which possess awareness.

That it can defy gravity is very easy to see. When you get up from the chair, your center of gravity goes up, against gravity. All life exhibits this property. The closest examples I can think of to describe the power of Kundalini are the following:

Have you seen the movie called ABYSS? If not see it. In the deep down of the ocean, the movie visualizes a coherent wave of water. This water mass, moving snake like, is fully aware. It is intelligent, conscious. It can understand, imitate and make faces. It is loving and compassionate. If approached with violence or hate, it lashes out with tremendous disruptive force. It can raise against gravity. it is capable of breathing life into a dead person and give the most delightful of visionary experiences. Its harmony is, to put it mildly, unbelievable. The supreme harmony stems from its coherence.

The second example I can cite is the not so familiar quantum fluid-liquid Helium II. Forming at very very low temperatures almost close to absolute zero degrees Kelvin, it stems from the NON-LOCAL nature of the wave function of the Helium atom. Hence it tends to delocalise, spread, overlapping other atoms. It is almost as if its love expanded to include all its neighbors. At low temperatures where disorder is low, the combined wave function exhibits coherence. It climbs up the walls of its container, defying gravity, almost like a conscious being. Super conductivity is also a similar phenomenon, which I won't describe here.

The third example I can think of is the familiar laser beam. One light quantum stimulates another to be in step with it. Preserving the integrity of the wave is the essence of the laser beam. Here again the coherence comes through the harmony of the individual light quanta working together.

The fourth example is that of Holography. A hologram is formed when every element of it contains in it the information about the whole picture.

When we look at all these examples, one point becomes clear. Coherence is the HARMONIOUS WORKING OF INDIVIDUALS, AN EXPRESSION OF UNITY IN DIVERSITY. It comes about by merging: taking a little of the individual and mixing with every other's little, allowing the whole to work as a single entity rather than a mere sum of parts. It does not demand individuality to be destroyed; yet it assumes its tremendous impact by group harmony. Individual letters group into words, sentences, paras, pages, etc. Each letter has not lost its individuality, but they are able to convey a message which they are unable to do if they were disordered. A misplaced letter causes confusion. COHERENCE IS THE MOVEMENT OF INDIVIDUAL TO THE HARMONIOUS GROUP CONSCIOUSNESS. Each one does exactly what is right. The notion of right and wrong is then simply definable as coherent or disruptive action.

Coherent, purposive behavior, not unbridled, random disruptive behaviors; that then is the life giving, life affirming, life enjoying power of Kundalini. It forces an individual in a group to behave as a harmonious member of the group. It demonstrates that whenever there is unity in diversity, the beginnings of life is there. Life is an organization. Kundalini is the discipline that preserves the freedom of the GROUP; it forbids action that disturbs harmony, but preserves total right to purposive, coherent, joyful action. Kundalini is life itself. It wins life from the random disorder of chaos.

When you function as an individual, you cannot harness much power. When you function as a coherent group, your arms are multiplied, so you can do more; you eyes are multiplied, so you can see more; your feet are multiplied, so you can cover more ground; your minds are multiplied, so you can think more; your capacity to act is multiplied, so you can achieve more. Coherent knowing, coherent doing in the harmony of a continuum of goals has this power. we will close for now with this following example:

Have you been to Puttaparthy? When Swami comes, Sai Ram, there is a hushed silence falling over a crowd, even it is a 100,000 strong. All minds are still, all are concentrated on looking at Swami. No doubt, some small ripples of thought arise, like, for example, "I want Swami to look at me." They pass without causing incoherence. This is the miracle of group Kundalini, all tuned by the trigger, Sai Ram. All satsangs, bhajans are the tuning process for the family of Sai devotees to happen. So, if Sai, meaning the assembly, expresses a wish to build a hospital, 50 Crore Rupees pour in from a million Sai Ram. That is Kundalini working.

Kundalini Sadhana

Usually we make two mistakes. One is that we think with the mind. Second is that we think using language which linearizes the thought. The very first of Patanjali's yoga sutras says, "stop the vortices of thoughts. Stop thinking about the same things again and again, going in circuits. That is Yoga." The grand question is how can one stop thinking?

I would like to say that we don't have to stop thinking, but we do have to think in a different way. We normally think with the mind. Stop that. Instead, think with the body. Think with the body? Yes, think with the body. Shift the thinking to a place other than the mind. Where else than body? (Well, there are other answers, but for the moment this answer will do.)

We have to understand that there is an intelligence in the body. Body is also mind. It can be aware. It is the pathway to mind. The pathways can be aware themselves. They are the precursors to thoughts. You can easily observe the way the vibrations, currents, vortices, feelings, move and circulate in your body. Not only in the head, but also in various parts of your body. The paths have the same intelligence as the mind. This is the basis of the statement: stop thinking with the mind, start thinking with the body. Let go of the mind. Don't analyze. Just be aware of what the body is telling you to do, do it. Then both knowing and acting are thoughtless.

How does a child think? With the body. It has not learned language; to name, analyze, cognize. But it is aware. It does not know fear. Become a child once again. Unlearn what you have learned. This is where I would like to begin the sadhana or practice.

I request the Goddess, Devi, to bless you to heal yourself. As Devi, I bless you.

Why not ask Devi to heal you directly? Because, 1. you should have the desire to be healed and act on it; and more important, you may not have accepted it yet, 2. You are Devi yourself. If you say no, Devi is saying no, and so Devi will not heal you. So you alone can heal yourself.

Now, assuming you said "yes, I want to be healed," then here is the way to act on it. Unless you act on it, healing won’t happen. The process is quite safe, and I am with you, so don't be afraid.

Choose a comfortable place to sit or stand. Noise is the biggest distracter. Even a clock sometimes can be quite troublesome. Choose a very quiet place which will not disturb you. Have no witnesses. Only yourself. Don't use a chair as it limits your freedom. An open stool is OK. Wear some thing very light and loose. Wearing nothing is best, if you are comfortable with it. Draw a circle around you, saying, nothing bad can enter here. Imagine a firewall around you like a globe. You are in the center of the 4 dimensional (3 dimensions of space and 1 dimension of time) fireball. Say, "I am full of energy here and now. I have nothing to worry or be afraid of right now. I am not in time any more." (Note: I have chosen a 4d fire ball so that astral entities who know the fine arts of moving in time also can't disturb you, and you are freed from fear.)

I am the Shakti in You. I am working in You. I am you.

Give yourself permission to move. Now start moving your head and neck slowly, ever so slowly that you hardly perceive it, but you know you are moving it. Never force yourself beyond the point of comfort.

Keep moving. The energy inside you will direct you to move in certain ways. Totally unpredictable. Can you predict how the smoke coming out of a lighted agarbatti (incense stick) dances in convective patterns in a still place? All such ways are OK. Keep releasing tensions. Let the body do the thinking. Give it a chance to think. Your body has an in-built intelligence. Let it work. Become totally aware of the part of your body that is doing the moving under the guidance of an unknown force. The unknown force is the innate intelligence of the body.

Move your neck. After some time (you will know when) start moving your hands. Move them any way you like. They are the healing hands. Move them over your body, ever so lightly. Feel the touch, the warmth sensually. Give yourself permission to be sensual. Feel the energy pulsating in the contact between your hands and your body.

Move like a wave. Or a snake. Poised, ready to strike. Move your head like a snake. You are the snake. A snake is not afraid of a snake, is it? It is itself. What is there to be afraid of? Yourself? It is the healing energy that feels like a snake - lithe, subtle, forceful, capable of infinite variations in expressions. All your fingers have collapsed to a single tip like a bud of a flower.

Give an energy bath to all parts of yourself with your hands. All parts. Feel the vibrant white light flowing through them.

Do this as long as you like. A typical session may last 20 to 30 minutes. Then thank yourself, your Guru, Devi, and your environment. Then get out of the body-thinking mode, out of the fireball, into the world of time. Into the world of language. Into the world of linear thinking with the head.

You will start seeing and experiencing the power of this technique. You will be alive, healed. Your mind rested. Body healed. Thankful you are alive. Pleased. Peace within you radiates to others. You will be noticed. You will help others without fear of losing what you have. You will have known the truth, I = world I see. Soham.

In normal transactions, you lose what you give. But can you lose if you are everyone and to whom can you give? Or receive from whom? If there is a transaction, it is
between yourself and yourself. Like having two bank accounts, money just moved
from one to the other. You haven't gained, you haven't lost. Lakshmi is Saraswati. The more you give, the more you get. You can't give without getting it back. Then fear of loss of money goes. For this to happen, you must know who you are. Now you know that you are everyone. The more you love, the more you are loved. All love is total “Self”ishness. It is only loving oneself. Because there is none other.

Even death can't catch you. When you are seeing your funeral through the eyes of the others, are you dead or alive? You can't die. Death is a lie. So, fear of death goes. You are permanently dead or permanently alive. Both mean the same thing. You have moved from being an asura to a sura; one who is wanting immortality to one who is immortal. You were already immortal; but thought you were mortal; so you sought immortality; gods cannot give you that; they cheat you; finally, only you can give yourself that; by becoming aware that the last step was the first step; that you are already where you wanted to be.

Yes, that is all it takes to heal. You will feel the powerful healing that has taken place. You feel a new awareness permeating every move you make; poised, purposeful. You will not want to create any turbulence. Even when you open a faucet, you will want to make the water flow smoothly, because you have become aware of the violence in a turbulent flow. You will prefer harmony to disharmony. Order to chaos. Naturally. You will be a source of joy to others. Loved, respected, accepted everywhere.

You will become sensitive to other's misery, suffer with them like Jesus. "O God, forgive them, for they know not what they are doing." Or be like Krishna. Enjoy the Gopis, the beauties in the world.

Is suffering inevitable? No. You can choose to suffer with others. Or choose to enjoy with others. The choice is yours. What is your take?

We want to heal those who want to be healed. And enjoy those who are healed.

Jesus healed is Krishna. That is why East and West together sing, Christna, Christna. Combines both, sort of.

Enjoy yourself. Healing is loving yourself. The world is yourself. So you will naturally love the world. And the world loves you. Abundance is yours. Without asking for it, begging for it. Without negotiating for it.

This is the message of the Goddess. This is the revelation. It reveals you to yourself. It is the mirror to what you were and also to what you can be. It looks into the past, and into the future at once. It goes beyond the straitjacket of time slotting.

Groundbreaking Settlement Agreement with San Francisco: New Housing and Community Services Created for Seniors and Adults with Disabilities

San Francisco — Today in federal district court, Judge
William H. Alsup granted final approval of the settlement
agreement in the civil rights class action filed to prevent
unnecessary institutionalization of people with disabilities at
Laguna Honda Hospital, Chambers et al. v. City and County of San
Francisco. The settlement will greatly increase
community-based housing and service options in San Francisco as
well as improve coordination of care.

Mark Chambers, lead plaintiff in the lawsuit and someone who has
lived in Laguna Honda Hospital since 1999, was at the fairness
hearing today. He told Judge Alsup that he was proud to
represent San Franciscans with disabilities in the case, and that
he looked forward to moving out on his own, with services and
supports. He hopes to be first in line to qualify for one of
the accessible housing units that San Francisco will secure under
the Agreement. Up to 500 city funded subsidies will make
such units affordable for class members.

The lawsuit was brought in the Northern District of California by
six individual plaintiffs who are or were residents of Laguna
Honda, as well as the Independent Living Resource Center of San
Francisco (ILRCSF) as organizational plaintiff. Co-counsel
on the case are Protection &Advocacy, Inc. (soon to be
Disability Rights California), AARP Foundation Litigation, the
Bazelon Center for Mental Health Law, Disability Rights Education
and Defense Fund (DREDF), and the law firm of Howrey LLP, pro
bono.

Herb Levine, Executive Director of ILRCSF, echoed Mr. Chambers'
enthusiasm, saying that "the inclusion of housing subsidies in
the agreement is a landmark event in Olmstead litigation, and we
hope it can provide a framework for future efforts to promote
integration." Olmstead refers to a 1999 Supreme Court
decision, Olmstead v. L.C, requiring states to support
community-based options for people with disabilities in order to
prevent unnecessary institutionalization.

In granting final approval, Judge Alsup congratulated the parties
and said that this settlement is one of the better ones he has
seen in terms of outcomes.

Elissa Gershon, lead attorney from the Oakland office of
Protection &Advocacy, Inc., said that, "This is an exciting day
for Mark and for other Laguna Honda residents. We look
forward to collaborating with San Francisco in implementing this
groundbreaking agreement, which will improve the lives of
hundreds of San Franciscans with disabilities and provide a model
for community integration in other cities and states.

"This settlement will not only bring about changed circumstances
for class members, but a changed mindset about disability and
independence, dignity and community integration," states DREDF's
Directing Attorney Arlene Mayerson. "It is a step forward
in recognizing that individuals with disabilities are not just
"patients," but full members of our communities."

Henry Su, a Howrey LLP partner on the plaintiffs' legal team,
observed that "the settlement agreement exemplifies what the
parties can accomplish in a collaborative environment; the
parties have developed practical and workable solutions to make
Olmstead real. Congratulations to Mark and the other
plaintiffs."

Jennifer Mathis, of the Bazelon Center noted, "We are very
encouraged that San Francisco is making real integration
possible. Laguna Honda residents deserve a chance to live
normal lives and participate as members of their communities."

Settlement Summary

Among its many provisions, the agreement creates an innovative
program to coordinate services across city departments, enabling
San Franciscans with disabilities who live at, or are referred
to, Laguna Honda, to instead receive community-based housing and
services. Eligible individuals will be assessed for,
referred to, and provided with subsidized housing, attendant and
nursing care, case management, substance abuse treatment, mental
health services, and assistance with meals.

In addition, several hundred Medi-Cal Home and Community-Based
waiver slots, which allow people to receive long-term health care
in their homes instead of in institutions, will be made available
to those who qualify. These waivers should bring millions
of dollars in federal and state Medicaid funding to San
Francisco.

Innovative Housing Program

Another exciting and innovative aspect of the agreement is the
development of a rental subsidy program, through which San
Francisco will, over the next five years, secure and subsidize
scattered-site, accessible, independent housing for approximately
500 people with disabilities and seniors who are eligible for
community-based services.

Hopefully Florida nursing home residents can benefit from this settlement.

Fla. Medicaid recipients want out of nursing homes
September 20, 2008 06:31 EDT

PLANT CITY, Fla. (AP) -- Some nursing home-bound Medicaid recipients in Florida say they want out and they're hoping a lawsuit will unlock the doors.

Medicaid recipients across Florida accuse the state of illegally forcing them to live in nursing homes. A federal lawsuit seeks class-action status.

One disability lawyer says "very, very, very few people" cannot be cared for in the community.

But obtaining Medicaid-supported services at home is substantially harder and often involves a long waiting list, even though it may actually cost less.

Advocates charge that nursing homes have successfully pressured politicians to make qualifying for community care more difficult. The defendants claim the plaintiffs want the courts "to second-guess" the way Florida has chosen to make services available in light of the state's available resources.

The results of this Illinois study are also very interesting

"The Chicago-based project documented the experiences and concerns of 200 disabled people attempting to transition out of nursing homes to least restrictive community living, actively involving participants in an empowerment and systems and policy change program. The authors describe the partnership between the University of Illinois at Chicago and two centers for independent living; the project's research, policy-related goals, and activities; and the outcomes realized. Barriers and facilitating factors to long-term care systems change are described, as are implications for other CBPR partnerships focused on disability public policy. Keywords: community-based participatory research; disability policy; long- term care policy; community living; nursing homes; community integration; community participation."

SARAH PALIN AND CHRISTOPHER REEVE: A Special Needs Parent Speaks Out

by Don Reed
www.stemcellbattles.com

According to Sarah Palin, if John McCain is elected President, she will be put in charge of cure research

According to Sarah Palin, if John McCain is elected President, she will be put in charge of cure research.

Governor Palin states: “John and I have worked out a plan… My mission is going to be energy security and government reform. And another thing near and dear to my heart, it’s going to be helping families who have special needs and children with special needs. And we’re going to be pushing for innovative cures of diseases.” *

Innovative cures? Special needs families? As far as I know, Governor Palin’s only background in either area is that she opposes embryonic stem cell research-- and that she has a six-month old baby with Down’s Syndrome.

At age 44, Ms. Palin chose to have a fifth child. When she found out the unborn child had Down’s Syndrome, she chose to continue with the pregnancy.

Fair enough. Those were her choices, and choice is important for every woman.

But does she have any knowledge of the real world of special needs families?

Right now, her baby requires only normal infant care: to be fed and changed and loved. When the “special needs” part of his life begins, Governor Palin’s income level will allow her to hire nannies and servants to care for her child.

Most of us do not have Ms. Palin’s advantages. For millions of American families, having a “special needs” member (a mentally or physically disabled person, old or young) means exhausting physical labors of care-giving, endless emotional stress, and bills we cannot afford.

At the age of nineteen, my son Roman Reed broke his neck in a college football accident. He was paralyzed from the shoulders down. The doctors gave us no hope: Roman would never walk again, they said: never close his fingers, probably never father a child; and, due to his shortened life expectancy, his mother Gloria and I might outlive our own son.

Before this happened, if I saw a person in a wheelchair, I never stopped to think how they got there. Who lifted them out of bed in the morning, helped them take a shower? Did they need assistance to use the rest room, to get dressed? Could they breathe on their own? If not, who changes the battery in their respirator? Who helps them turn over in bed during the night? Will she or he need to be institutionalized? If so, who will pay?

Many families break up under this stress. John McCain, for example, divorced his first wife when she became disabled.

If Ms. Palin truly wanted to be the “friend and advocate of special needs families”, as she so perkily promised at the Republican Convention, she could begin by opposing John McCain’s negative position on the Community Choice Act, which he says we cannot afford. The Community Choice Act would allow people with disabilities to receive government assistance at home, with their families, instead of being institutionalized.

In addition to care for special needs individuals, America must work for cures.

My family knows about this, up close and personal. California passed a law named after our son, the Roman Reed Spinal Cord Injury Research Act of 1999. It is just a small law, one and a half million dollars a year—but it made possible the nation’s first state-funded embryonic stem cell research.

On March 1, 2002, opening day of the Roman Reed Laboratory at UC Irvine, I held in my hand a laboratory rat which had been paralyzed, but which now walked again-- and this while my son watched from his wheelchair.

The experiment was so successful that Geron Corporation funded further work on it, taking it all the way to the Food and Drug Administration, where it is currently being considered for human trials. If all goes well, newly paralyzed people may one day have the chance my son did not—to walk out of the hospital, instead of being condemned to a wheelchair for life.

Far more importantly, California voters passed a magnificent stem cell research program, to fund the science President George Bush so cruelly restricted.

And it was our son who suggested the official motto for that program, the California Institute for Regenerative Medicine, (CIRM): “Turning stem cells into cures.”

Today, we have hope. But it would all be swept away by Sarah Palin.

Embryonic stem cell research would quite literally become against the law if Sara Palin and the GOP get their way. The official Republican platform calls for the complete prohibition of embryonic stem cell research, both public and private; even George Bush did not take such an extreme position.

Not only paralysis cure is at risk. We are fighting for relief from cancer, which killed my mother and older sister. Embryonic stem cell research is crucial in the battle against Alzheimer’s, multiple sclerosis, stroke, diabetes, blindness—and Down’s Syndrome. In England, where the government supports it, embryonic stem cell research led to a clearer understanding of the causes of Down’s Syndrome, an important step towards cure.

Which brings us to another choice for Sarah Palin—when cure does come, will she allow her son to become well?

She might say no. There are people who do not accept medical treatment for religious reasons. X-rays were originally frowned on by some, because it was thought they might be used to see through women’s clothing. Others said chicken pox was God’s punishment for sin, and it was wrong to develop a vaccine to cure it. Even today folks may refuse blood transfusions; others believe in the power of healing by faith alone-- as is their right.

But should religion be allowed to block my son’s chances to walk again?

American families deserve access to the best care science can provide: to ease suffering and save the lives of our children, our brothers and sisters, and our neighbors too.

Our country has an estimated one hundred million citizens with incurable disease or disability. These are not just empty statistics, but our loved ones, members of your family and mine. They are the reason America supports stem cell research.

Also, we are plain common sense practical. We see the results of too many people not getting well. Last year, America spent $2 trillion dollars on health care—a mountain of money, more than all federal income taxes put together. Three-fourths of that went to the maintenance of people with chronic disease or disability, who will never be healed: except, perhaps, with stem cell research.

If we want affordable health care, we must support cure research.

We will not be tricked into believing there are alternatives to embryonic stem cells that are just as good. Those arguments have been made for years. They were not true then, and they are not true now. If there is a cure for paralysis, fine: show it to me. But until then, politicians should not insult my intelligence by pretending those cures exist.

To understand what an extreme position Sarah Palin and the Republican Party are taking on stem cell research, we need only compare the lists of groups who argued about a simple bipartisan bill expanding President Bush’s restrictive embryonic stem cell research policies: the Stem Cell Research Expansion Act (Castle,DeGette).

First, how many groups opposed the relaxation of restrictions? Seventeen. That’s right, seventeen: and every one was a conservative religious and/or ideological organization.**

How many groups supported embryonic stem cell research? Five hundred and eighteen: every major scientific, educational, medical or patient rights group that took a position on the issue, including the American Medical Association.***

At the end of this article, you will find both lists: 17 against embryonic, 518 in favor. (If you want to print out the list be supporting groups, be warned: it is long, almost 14 pages.

I do not think Ms. Palin has a lot of scientific background.

For example, as Governor of Alaska, she wanted to spend several million dollars of taxpayer money killing wolves, shooting them from airplanes, figuring that would result in more moose for human hunters to kill. As wolves actually protect the moose population by killing the weak and sick, thereby preventing the spread of disease, Palin’s plan to wipe out natural predators does not make a great deal of sense.

John McCain says he supports embryonic stem cell research. But to please the anti-science wing of his party, he would let an enemy of the research have influence over it.

Giving Sarah Palin power over research, is like tossing a weasel in the henhouse-- and pretending it will only supervise.

Enough. As Barrack Obama said, in a one-word rejection of failed policies: enough.

I am tired of a White House which does not reflect my hopes for a better America. I want a President who will work on the problems with the idea of really solving them, not just smiling and waving at us from a platform.

Cure did not come in time for Christopher Reeve. Our champion has fallen. But the flame of his faith still lights our way. Barack Obama has taken up the torch of scientific freedom, the power that lifted us to the moon, and accepts no limitations.

America will prevail.

The politics of embryonic stem cell research are especially problematic when those who support this research also express a desire for abortions to be rare. Quite simply, they both cannot occur. Let's say embryonic stem cells can cure spinal cord injuries, Parkinson's, Alzheimers, and so on. Now embryos have become a commodity - companies or people willing to pay money for aborted fetuses so that they can cure those who have these disabilities. You see where this is going? Grandpa develops Alzheimers, so the grand-daughter now needs to get pregnant and then get an abortion to help Grandpa. Is this extreme? I don't think so. Why not just promote adult stem cell research which has no ethical baggage?
